Philip Achille’s Final Recital

Many of you will have known Philip Achille through his attendance at NHL events since the age of 10 in Ely in 1999. He is just completing his degree course at the Royal College of Music, London. The first one ever on chromatic harmonica.

Here is the official announcement of one of the final parts of his course. The final, public recital on 1st April, 2011 at the college. Would you please spread the word. There are some videos on YouTube of his appearance at the BBC Proms and the Eurovision Young Musician of the Year

Philip will be giving his final recital of his degree course at the Royal College of Music, London, on the 1st April 2011, at 17:15pm in the Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall at the Royal College of Music (RCM).

This is an examination, but it is also a public performance. Dubbed the “final recital” as is the tradition with end of year examinations, this particular one really will be a final recital as this is the year that Philip graduates.

Philip is the first person to study chromatic harmonica at the Royal College of Music, in London. Academic landmarks with the instrument are not unfamiliar to Philip who was the first person to take a diploma in the instrument, awarded with distinction from Trinity College London.

Bringing the harmonica to new audiences has been the ethos of his playing career and has seen him perform at the BBC proms in the Royal Albert Hall, and even for the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance to name but a few.

He will be performing Bach’s “Violin Concert in Am (1st mov)”, Robert Farnon’s “Prelude and Dance”, and Gordon Jacob’s “Five Pieces”.

The RCM is located opposite the famous Royal Albert Hall. Instructions on how to get to the RCM can be found at the link below:
